Holiday Mojo - Sam Riley

The NT is somewhere we have always wanted to visit but never had the chance. As soon as we arrived in Alice Springs we knew we were in for something special.

Our indigenous guide, Bob Taylor, shared ancient stories of the Arrernte people and introduced us to wild bush foods.

Our journey on the Ghan was truly magical; watching the countryside change from red desert to lush tropical landscapes was just amazing.

With sandstone cliffs on either side, we drifted along the Katherine Gorge feeling humbled by the sheer size and beauty of our surroundings.

The kids would love these strange and fascinating formations in Litchfield National Park.

We felt refreshed and a million miles from anywhere as we immersed ourselves in the natural plunge pools.

Watching the stunning sunset on a balmy night in Darwin, surrounded by palm trees, we relaxed completely and felt as though the rest of the world had disappeared.

Sitting by the Harbour watching the cruise boats pass by, we knew that we would be back to the NT, and next time we’d definitely bring the kids.

Samantha Riley - Swimmer

One of Australia’s greatest female swimmers, Sam Riley and her husband Tim travelled to the Northern Territory for the first time recently.

Their memorable journey through Australia’s outback included spending time with local Aboriginal people, and introduced the couple to local aboriginal culture and bush tucker.

Sam’s interest in Aboriginal culture developed when she discovered that her great-grandmother was an Aboriginal woman named Zillah.

To end their journey, Sam and Tim travelled from Alice Springs to Darwin on the legendary Ghan, passing through the many and varied landscapes of the outback.
